Meet The Trombone Section

Kevin Baker (Trombone)
Swings The Thing lead trombonist Kevin Baker performs in a number of different musical genres including
jazz, swing, and classical. For 10 years, he led the trombone section of the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra under
the direction of Bill Tole. Kevin has also played with the New York based Dick Lowenthal Orchestra,
the Ice Capades Orchestra, the Ted Weems Orchestra, the Bruno Masdea Big Band, The Len Foster Society Orchestra,
The Elson LeFever Quintet, and The Anne Young Combo. He also currently plays with the Rick Brunetto Big Band.
As a classical trombonist, he performs with, and co-founded the Baronscourt Brass Quintet, and has performed with
the Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra. He also played with the Central Ohio Brass Band, winning the North American
Brass Band solo competition during his tenure.
Other groups and artists include, vocalists Kay Starr, Ben Vereen, trumpeter Marvin Stamm, the Inkspots, and classical pianist Michael Chertock.

Gary Clark (Trombone)
Gary "Brassy" Clark plays 2nd trombone for the band.
While attending Ohio State, Gary played with the Ohio State Concert Band as well as the
Ohio State Symphony Orchestra. After college he toured with the Tommy Dorsey Band for
a year or so and then played with several Cincinnati dance bands.
Gary has played with several groups around Columbus, including the Rick Brunetto Orchestra,
Nostalgics, Upper Arlington Symphony, Reynoldsburg Brass Quartet, the Reynoldsburg
Community Orchestra and, of course, Swing's the Thing.
Gary and his wife Mona reside in Granville and are the owners of Auto Illusions in Newark, Ohio.
They enjoy their two sons Brant and Derek
Gary can't recall when he started playing the trombone. Says he can't remember back that far.
His words of wisdom are "don't quit playing your instrument as you're never too old just to enjoy it".

Brad Goldman (Bass Trombone, Tuba)
Brad is the newest member of Swing's the Thing Big Band.
Brad has been in Columbus since the summer of 2005. He moved here from
Cincinnati to marry his soul mate Kathy. A couple of years later he was blessed
with beautiful twin girls Jessica & Rachel. When not playing music he can be
found watching the Cincinnati Reds, rooting for the Cincinnati Bengals, and
Bowling.
When not playing music, his first love, he provides computer support for Limited
Brands. He holds a BA in Music from Northern Kentucky University on the
Tuba. Brad currently plays Tuba with the New Albany Symphony as well as
playing bass trombone with the Worthington Civic concert band.
In the past Brad has played Tuba for Clermont Philharmonic, Hamilton Fairfield
Symphony orchestra, Northern Kentucky Symphony and the Pavilion Music company
big band in Cincinnati. He also has conducted and has played in several pit
orchestras for community theater groups in Cincinnati, including his most
favorite pit orchestras playing for the Showboat Majestic.
